Spread the Love Challenge

Dear Readers,
This is a departure from what I usually post.
I was tagged by Jessica Edouard,(thank-you!) https://wordpress.com/read/blog/id/74109810/
to write a post for the Spread The Love Challenge, which began Valentine’s Day.
The rules are thus: Write 10 four word sentences about love, share your favorite quote or poem filled with love, and then nominate 10 more bloggers to spread more love.
So here goes:

10 four word sentences about love:
(1) Love willingly accepts compromise.
(2) Sad souls love chocolate.
(3) Red hearts signal love.
(4) Beautiful sunsets seek love.
(5) Puppy-dog tails wag love.
(6) Welcoming smiles shine love.
(7) Love surrounds two together.
(8) Love bubbles with joy.
(9) Love’s gentle touch soothes.
(10) Love kisses skinned knees.

My current favorite love quote is:
“The way to love anything is to realize it might be lost.” – G.K. Chesterton

Epiphany

She startled the afternoon when she strode purposefully into the quiet room.
Flaming red hair, harbinger of her lively essence, tucked casually under a black
wool tuque, low ponytail forgotten. The bright blaze down her back begged
indifference but the exceptional color could not escape notice.
Camouflage pants spilled into bright orange boots, oozing with youthful confidence.
She approached with laidback ease.
Her white teeth, one near the front slightly overlapping another,
satisfied her broad smile.
Loud boisterous laughter rolled from her lips, smacked with a mischievous air.
Her lighthearted presence filled the room.

And I saw what others could not.
Youth choosing life. While her cells waged a battle of their own deep inside,
one destroying another.

Transcendent Contact

Music plays quietly
delicate notes of joy and love
uplifting
Heartwarming tears of gratitude
offered while on knees of the moment
Beauty and compassion
shared in a circle of safety
stories of hardship and pain
stories of hopes and desires
enveloped in a halo of acceptance
Dream catchers woven
in a time of listening
open hearts
exposed and vulnerable
gathered in hands of friendship
Ragged threads
braided as one
no longer frayed
strengthened by unity
now a beautiful tapestry
Lives unfold
as each thread is touched,
colored, named
Mystical artwork
mysteriously created
Music soars
a divine chorus
a privileged instant

Searching for Joy

Question-Mark

Can you help me?
I have lost something valuable
precious to me
I’m looking for something
that makes me laugh
feel happy
but more than that

something to add
a lightness to my day
a skip to my step
I am looking for something
to put a smile on my lips
and a grin on my heart

I am looking for something
that will let me see the world
through eyes of wonder
to offer gratitude for the grace
and beauty that surround me
to see beyond hurt pain
misery that can surface in life

I am looking to mend a chink in my armor
to add laughter to my arsenal
a key ingredient
an effervescent effusive
bubbling expression of deep joy
that cannot remain contained
sending contagious vibrations
outward
instantly recognizable by others

I have lost something valuable
precious to me
Can you help?

Dancing Dragon

dancing dragon

She danced to the music
twirling step by step
her little skirt spinning out from her body
like a toy top set in motion

Her eyes closed
lashes dark against porcelain cheeks
that were red and glowing as if lit from within

Happy go lucky
she practiced jaunty quick moves
hops
skips
bows
sashaying
this little show girl was
putting on quite a display
her joy was unmistakable

I felt grateful
for the gift of her dance
the vision of her
carefree performance
awoke a sleeping dance dragon
within my heart

I found my foot tapping
myself smiling
and soon
I too
was dancing with abandon
