Inner Child

Been in the dark a long time
light is blinding
so much noise
so much stimulation
Easier in the dark!

That space has shrunk
too difficult to go back
have to stay out

it’s cold

Light is intimidating
much unknown
Desire to return to the dark
false sense of security

Somebody help
Before she disappears…

  1. It’s okay; get used to the light gradually. The longer you’re able to stay, the more ready you’ll be to open your eyes and feel at ease. In the mean time, enjoy the warm sunbeam.

“Inner child” blows me away, Mary. You have so exactly captured something I am re-experiencing at the moment. I try hard to reassure my inner child, telling her that she is safe, that it is okay to come out into the sunshine at her own pace. “That space has shrunk, too difficult to go back” is utterly true. May your inner child learn to leap into the light and play and explore and feel gratitude šŸ™‚

I am very glad to read your reply, Mary! My artistic inner child has disappeared into a dark space and seems nervous about coming forward again. How many times this unhappy dance has twirled me back and forth. Guess I need to nurture my inner child more often!
