I have a blended family
we live in a blended world
all part of the same fabric
same cloth of life
any barriers or walls
denied access
segregation
delineation
separation
are artificial
truth bleeds through division
seeps into awareness
permeates everything
if eyes are open to perceive
We are One
a colorful tapestry
a world of ideas, knowledge, talent
commingled
What a beautiful way to describe a blended family. The metaphor of fabric may not be new but your gorgeous verse, “truth bleeds through division…perceive” gave me goosebumps! Keep writing, Mary…your voice is getting stronger!
Speaking of voice, I am reading Natalie Goldberg’s wonderfully accessible book, “Writing Down the Bones.” In it she speaks about the need for a writing practice: “We must continue to open and trust in our own voice and process. Ultimately, if the process is good, the end will be good. You will get good writing…don’t stop doing writing practice. It is what keeps you in tune, like a dancer who does warm-ups before dancing….” I like this image, the need to keep limber in anything we do and especially in writing. This is why your daily blog is SO valuable for you!! Brava!
Meghan, your comments and encouragement mean the world to me. Thank you so much!
