(personal photos from our recent hike to Durrand Glacier)
glacial meltwater
flows steady
into carved rock basins
where weary hikers
can stop and soak

lazy summer heat
stops time
papa naps in shade
Droopy flower
long past best before date
lifts her weary head
toward soft light of
eastern sky
Faded pink petals rise
display hint of past glory
flower head seems too large
for fragile stem
struggling to uphold
emboldened blossom
Curly leaves
weak, flaccid
ripple gently
join the dawn salute
wave their approval
