Maligne Canyon, Jasper

The canyon, pronounced ‘Mal-een’, is a peculiar canyon.  It has been explained as a classic gorge, cut by a waterfall but the waterfall runs only from May to December.  In winter, there is very little water in the gorge.  Here are a few photos of our hike into Maligne Canyon earlier this month. As study continues in order to find explanations for how this canyon came to be,

it can be enjoyed for its beauty any time of year.
