Moose Loop, Jasper

I continue to share winter memories. These photos are from the Moose Loop snowshoe trail near Jasper, Alberta. It was a quiet afternoon with pristine snow. The trail was well travelled but you can see from the photo of me by the large rock what happens when you stray off trail. I sunk to my thighs even with the snowshoes! We chose to hike the trail counter clockwise and were rewarded with the final couple of kilometers being along a lake with stunning mountain views. The scenery reminded me of Robert Frost’s poem, Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening (1923). Here is the final stanza of that poem:

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
