Summer Drops

Little slippered feet bounce on a trampoline.
Squeals rise like birdsong. Glistening trees
sprinkle captured rain. Summer drops jostled free.

I like what you are doing in this piece but I am a little confused, too. “Summer drops jostled free” refers to the rain, not those little slippered feet returning to the trampoline right? Maybe I am just reading it incorrectly. Squeals rise…summer droplets fall???

I appreciate your continued interest in my writing, Meghan! The child was doing “bum drops” on the trampoline, but raindrops sitting on pine branches spilled over as she bounced close to the trees. I do like your suggestion of “droplets.” It would provide a clearer image. Thank-you!
