These haiku have a way of drawing one in, don’t they?! I like the image of the mountains adding strength in your first version, Meghan. In the second version I see them as standing passively and the piece doesn’t have the same impact for me.
Thank you, Mary for your comments. I had not thought of the second version of the mountains as being passive. Good observation! I really was trying to say that the mountains add strength to the beauty of the blossoms and flowering friendships.
