My Heritage

1947 Michelina on left and Mrs. Osowetski (her farm)

I come from a long line of
Strong Slavic women
A tradition of hard work to
Get the job done
Rumplestiltskin wove straw into gold
Pioneer women in my heritage wove
Homes
Lives
Memories
Out of harsh conditions
Providing golden opportunities
For successive generations

I share this sentiment. In what ways does that pioneer spirit exist today?

When I cook, I hear my Baba’s voice in my ear, when I garden and can the fruits of that labor, I feel her beside me, when I rock my babies, I hear her humming.

You have expressed your sentiment beautifully, Connie. I cannot smell the aroma of freshly baked bread without thinking of Sundays at Baba H’s farm! ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel the women of today still want what is best for their children and grandchildren so they do what they can to reduce, reuse and recycle. Consumerism and the environment have taken on great importance.
