Words have fled my lips,
like moulting feathers that litter the ground,
useless.
My heart is in my throat.
I see abundance.
Numerous seals and penguins dot the landscape
like so many pixels creating an image.
Great beauty rises from stark surroundings.
Thick glaciers melt into leaping waterfalls,
cascade to the sea.
Wash over red rust whaling station scars
that blister the horizon.
Macabre glory days over,
sea and salt air reclaim what once ignored her.
Beleaguered oil containers lean into the future
waiting for cargo that will no longer fill
their insatiable appetite.
Once we pillaged the sea,
now the earth.

Frothy Blush
(internet photo)
Eastern skies parade
pinks and earthy oranges.
New spring colors burst forth,
tinting clouds and mountains,
a frothy blush of strawberry milkshake
cool creaminess.
Skyscrapers glow warm peach
and sweet cantaloupe melon flesh.
A natural palette of intense hues
display a timeless beauty.
Spring’s theme – perfect any time of the year!
Former Glory
Droopy flower
long past best before date
lifts her weary head
toward soft light of
eastern sky
Faded pink petals rise
display hint of past glory
flower head seems too large
for fragile stem
struggling to uphold
emboldened blossom
Curly leaves
weak, flaccid
ripple gently
join the dawn salute
wave their approval
